Product Owner

Position Details

• Location: 100% Remote (candidates must reside in the U.S. or Canada)
• Duration: 12+ month contract
• Employment Type: C2C or W2
• Pay Rate: Open
• Schedule: Must be able to work EST business hours
• Travel: None

About the Role

• Our client, a leading financial services company, is seeking a Product Owner to support its Retirement Services business
• This role partners with business stakeholders and delivery teams to define, prioritize, and deliver product features
• Retirement services experience is not required; strong financial services experience is valued

Key Responsibilities

• Own and manage the product backlog, ensuring priorities align with business goals
• Write clear user stories and acceptance criteria
• Gather requirements from business stakeholders and translate them into actionable work for delivery teams
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives
• Serve as the primary point of contact between business and technology teams
• Make timely decisions on scope, priorities, and trade-offs
• Review completed work and confirm it meets acceptance criteria
• Communicate progress, risks, and dependencies to stakeholders

Required Qualifications

• Experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or Project Manager
• Experience in the financial services industry
• Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies
• Experience writing user stories and managing a backlog
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in asset management or wealth management
• Exposure to retirement services, such as defined contribution or 401(k) plans
• Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, or Azure DevOps
• Product Owner certification (CSPO, PSPO, or similar)
